I always forget that stuff is reversed when it prints! I just stay away from cutting letters all together hahah

The print looks so awesome though, so I wouldn't even worry about the notes!

Aw, it's lovely. I've been doing linocuts forever and I still do that. You know, you could just gouge those notes right out.

I was also gonna say, gouge the notes out - you could hand draw/paint them in after for that multi-media style!

har har. we all do that at some point. :)
but yeah, you could gouge out the notes. and maybe stamp them from another block. hate to waste the whole lino...

aww susie,

the backwards notes are not a huge deal. you could just market it as some rare limited edition thing and i bet you $10 that you will sell out of any number that you print.

or you could name then resulting print something like music in a mirror?

xo,
leigh

aw, it is still cute, though. do you use "old school" lino, or the easy cut stuff? i loooove the easy cut stuff 'cause i can use it with stamp pads instead of rolling out the ink :) i like shortcuts!

the notes are actually not backwards, depending on which line they are on, they can be either way. i don't think it is an issue. it looks supa dupa.

the notes aren't backwards in this photo, they're backwards when the print is made.
see?

But if you look at hand-scored compositions, notes are rarely "right". It's like handwriting- messy! I think it looks okay!

Aw, I hardly ever do lino printing, but every time I pick it up again, I ALWAYS forget and do that! It feels a little better when I scan it and flip it on screen, but it's not quite the same.

Yours looks lovely with the backwards notes, though, they look kind of intentional.

hey susie... I think they look fine too... BUT if you hate them you could just cut them out of the original print and make some separate little musical note lino cuts to print over the first image... maybe you could even make a feature of it by changing the colour of the notes or something?? Lucy (been gone from livejournal a long time but I used to be niceandlucy.. :) x.

Hee... the musical notes will be backwards, but I think it will still be a nice print. I did that myself once with a screenprint. Which is even dumber, if you ask me.

Oops.
