i'm terrible.

i'm terrible at keeping a blog. i think it's because there's so many micro ways to share thoughts and fragments of days (instagram, twitter, what not) that unless you are a Career Blogger, or just really good at focusing on writing down everything you do, it's just not happening.

the general update with me, and i swear i'm going to be better at keeping track of this stuff, is:
1. i am unbelievably busy
2. i am pretty content
3. i am perpetually working on the work-life balance.

the biggest update is probably that i'll be in rhode island for the month of january. that's another entry for another day. next time.

oh, and i'm at 42 books and 53 movies for 50/50 so yay! if you'd like to know my top recommendations, "the art of fielding" and "high fidelity" were good books, "marina abramovic: the artist is present" and "blackfish" were my favorite documentaries, and i couldn't put "gone girl" down.

I know the feeling, I guess. Lately I've just been in a quandary over whether all the lj peeps are disappearing because I don't update enough, or whether it's a combination of bloggers leaving lj for other blog services.

It takes a lot of effort to put together good entries and I know you must have your hands full with all the arts and crafts and reading that you do aside from it. Yes, It's weird how one tries to read a book, paint a picture, or whatever, and that's when the spark of an idea strikes for a good topic for your lj update. I know it helps to jot your thoughts down on paper, and I've started doing that during lag time at work, but it isn't always convenient. I even have one of those Android Galaxy Note phone, but just the writing part takes a person into that zone. So, writing in the middle of walking across a busy intersection isn't always convenient.

Then there's the cross platform thing where rss feeds can be converted to an lj syndicated feed. OMG, the technology is unending. I think that's why I've chosen to update my blog with a manual typewriter.

i think the livejournal platform feels dated which has kept people from being loyal when there are so many other more beautiful platforms.

good idea to jot down journal ideas. i've always felt that blogging was an opportunity to take a break from creating my work, not another ongoing creative outlet i need to maintain. so, it often falls to the bottom of the to do list, or -- more realistically -- it isn't on the to do list at all. but it should be.

my blog is mostly kept in a paper bound diary and sketchbook, but that's not called a blog at all. hey, thanks for your thoughtful comment!

Someone else said the same about Gone Girl. I'll have to check it out. Nice to see you on my FL.

it's really very difficult to put down. i started reading it at 10pm and didn't wrap it up until 6:30am. it's been awhile since i abandoned sleep to finish a book.
