using all the colors

haven't been blogging as much as I have meant to these last couple weeks. i've been swamped with work and work drama and visitors and plans, and it hasn't left a ton of time for reflection. but alas, comicon is this week and what was supposed to be a week full of visitors has inadvertently turned into a lot of cancelled plans and thus downtime, a blessing in disguise because after last weekend's trip to the desert, i'm still feeling pretty winded.

more about that in a sec. first things first: the image above is a reissue of a slightly reworked sold out necklace i collaborated on a couple years ago! along with 3 new rings, two pairs of stud earrings and 6 other necklace designs, that's a huge new jewelry collection i just released on my etsy shop hooray!

ok, back to the desert trip: last weekend, a friend of mine decided she wanted to go on a trip to the desert for the day, so a few email exchanges later, we had a van rental and a plan to meet at my house at 6am. we filled the van with food and fun people, and drove out to salvation mountain - a colorful oasis in the desert and the handiwork of one devoted man. to me, it sings childlike wonder and reminds me of how when you're a kid, in love with the world, you use all the crayons in the crayon box.

so here's a reminder to me & you & everyone we know to use all the colors in the crayon box every once in awhile because that's the purest expression of joy.

it was hot, about 110, though it felt like 110 in the shade. we went to the salton sea, too, which is just amazingly surreal and beautiful, but smells like death quite literally. specifically fish death. specifically thousands and thousands of dead fish death. which directly translates to about 10 minutes of visiting time before you have the overwhelming urge to vomit.

overall, desert day was amazing. a day of 64 colors for sure.

in other news, we're going to the bay of fundy in canada in a few weeks for a family retreat. not that that's a destination many people tend to visit, but if you have any tips for must sees in that area, or the area of moncton, NB, we'll be there a few days and are interested in recommendations.

that is all.
